Britannia Royal
16.2 hh, 2013, Liver Chestnut,
Royaldik x Headley Britannia (Jumbo)
Licensed SHB(GB)
Britannia Royal is an elegant, eye-catching, modern blood-type stallion, 70%+ TB. He is a short-coupled stallion with correct conformation, good feet, rhythmical paces and a quick, bold but careful and athletic jump. His natural speed cross country has enabled him to regularly and comfortably complete within the time allowed; and he had only a handful of time faults in his very first run at Intermediate (Wellington International). Apart from his good looks, he is a charming horse with a lovely calm, trainable temperament and is a pleasure to handle at home, at stud and at competitions, which comfortably enables him combine competing and stud duties.
In 2020, despite the shortened event season, he proved once again what a consistent performer he is with five double-clears achieving five top-ten placings from just six runs, including a fabulous performance and 6th place in only his second run at Intermediate level. He is also a quick and careful pure showjumper, producing consistently good rounds at BS Foxhunter level, having qualified for the second rounds of both the Discovery and Newcomers Championships in 2019. In 2021 he finished in the top 10 four times at Intermediate and completed his first CCI-S 3*.
Britannia Royal’s progeny are already starting to show their quality. His first two offspring, born in 2017, made a terrific start to their showing careers in-hand, both proving winners at County level in Hunter Breeding and Hack/Riding Horse classes; and his son Classictop Britannic has gone on to stand Champion Hunter Breeding at the 2019 Kent County Show. These two will be 4-year-olds in 2021, and we are very excited to see them progress as ridden horses, one destined to go eventing, the other to continue his showing career.
Britannia Royal is also getting excellent results from his foals presented for evaluation at the Futurity series. His first foal of 2018, Cornsay Heraldry, from a Chilli Morning mare, was one of only two youngsters, across all the age groups, to be awarded a Higher First Premium at the Richmond Futurity; a 2019 foal, Vivat Rex, was also awarded Gold at the Catherston Stud Futurity.
